These strawberry granola bars are SO easy to make – and they freeze well if you cut them into portions and wrap them in plastic wrap. I like to store these in the freezer in a Tupperware container, after wrapping them. I pull them out in the morning while I pack the kids for school or in our hiking packs, and they are thawed by lunchtime! They also keep well, so if I pull them out and don’t eat them I found even 3-4 days later they were still yummy!Continue reading “Make Ahead Strawberry Granola Bars”

As a native to Pennsylvania, the Dutch foods I grew up with have followed me to Colorado. And this is definitely one of our absolute favorite recipes. I usually make 2 batches of this classic “Breakfast Baked Oatmeal” – freeze one, and bake one!
This Make Ahead Breakfast Baked Oatmeal freezes wonderfully, or you can allow it to sit overnight in your fridge, or you can go ahead and make it right away! This recipe is naturally vegan too!Continue reading “Make Ahead Breakfast Baked Oatmeal”

I absolutely LOVE cooking spaghetti sauce in my 18-qt electric roaster. Side note – I use my roaster for so many glorious meals! Imagine how often you use your crock pot – and then think “what if I had 3 crock pots for that delicious food… and wala… you discover the electric roaster. Ok – back to the Spaghetti Sauce recipe!Continue reading “Big Batch Spaghetti Sauce”
Fast, Easy, Butternut Squash Soup is a winter favorite of our little ones as well as daddy and I.
I love soup anytime the temperature outside is below 40°F. It’s so warm, comforting, and nourishing. I especially love winter squash soup. The butternut squash turns out so creamy, thick, and soothing. Ahh, I could go on and on.
I adapted this recipe from a friend a few years ago. I’ve had plenty of time to tweak it and I wanted to share it with you – especially my keto, paleo, vegetarian, and vegan friends! And you too busy moms! This is essentially ready in 30 minutes!Continue reading “Best winter squash soup”
I absolutely love fresh herbs from the garden. In fact, that is one of the primary reasons I garden. I am frugal, and I love fresh. Herbs at the store are EXPENSIVE and they aren’t anything to brag about. So in my herb garden Basil, Parsley, Dill, and Oregano are some of my all-stars. I’ve had tremendous success anywhere I’ve tried to grow these babies; whether in my indoor or outdoor herb gardens (I’ll admit oregano and dill definitely did better outside).
It’s the end of the season, so what am I to do with all of those wonderful herbs? I can’t keep up with the flowers that my Basil plant is trying to push. So I’ve been dehydrating them and then using these cute little Ikea glass jars for storage. But I honestly have more than I can store. Then I remembered how delicious the bread and dipping oil was last Sunday after church at BoneFish Grill. So I thought, why not make my own herb bread? And while I’m at it – I should try to make some banging’ dipping oil to go with it. And I couldn’t have been more pleased with how well they turned out! My husband and kids were RAVING about how yummy it was! Continue reading “Best Herb Bread & Herb Bread Dip”
Eating for healing is a great choice. But what types of foods are best for healing?
A few of the greatest avenues of impact include 1) portion control and 2) food choice. If you are able to perfectly design a meal in both portion as well as fuel, the consumer has the benefit of achieving what the body needs to eliminate the possibility of overeating, consuming processed or otherwise unhealthy ingredients, and improper ratios of fuel.
Do you really know how to use meal replacement shakes?
While coaching and training clients, I have seen many people utilize meal replacement shakes to lose weight. I also have seen people use these as options for replacing meals because of a fast-paced lifestyle.
Meal replacement shakes can have a positive place in our diet, but I challenge you to answer two essential questions: what is really in this shake you’re opting for? and what is the aim of a meal replacement shake?
